Speak Up to Protect the Oak Ridges Moraine in Adjala-Tosorontio: Attend Coffee with Council

The future of the Oak Ridges Moraine is on the agenda—and your voice matters.

STORM Coalition is calling on all residents of Adjala-Tosorontio to attend the Coffee with Council event hosted by the Township:

📍 Municipal Office – 7855 Sideroad 30, Alliston

📅 Tuesday, June 3, 2025

🕕 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

This informal event is your opportunity to speak directly with Council about a troubling motion recently passed by the Township. The motion calls for changes to the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan (ORMCP)—changes that, if enacted, could open the door to sprawling residential development in some of the Moraine’s most sensitive and protected areas.

After reviewing the motion, STORM’s team of professional planners found it to be based on a misinterpretation of existing laws. The ORMCP already allows for additional residential units (ARUs) within designated Settlement Areas. Council’s proposed changes are not only unnecessary, they are potentially dangerous—setting a precedent that could weaken protections across the entire Moraine.

This is not just about one motion. It’s about the long-term future of Ontario’s most critical ecological corridor.

Its time to ask the hard questions and demand transpracy form the Township of Adjala-Tosorontio.
