IMPORTANT UPDATE - Possibility of Vaughan Applicant Altering Site on the ORM in Advance of Approval

Updated: May 5

Moraine Watch Alert: Vaughan Update:

Responding to community reports of development occurring at a contested site on the ORM, STORM Director Irene Ford reported this potential violation of the ORMCP to the City of Vaughan staff. Deputy City Manager of Community Service, Gus Michaels has confirmed that Enforcement Officers from By-law and Compliance, Licensing and Permit Services and Development Engineering Municipal inspectors intervened at 141 Maloy St. to have work ceased. Further investigation is being undertaken to assess possible violations at this site. Alteration of this site had been previously opposed by STORM and we are actively working to contest a staff report that creates a loop-hole in the ORMCP that would allow for the use of temporary by-laws to permitted non-compliment (i.e., illegal) zoning changes that are favourable to development. STORM is calling on Vaughan community members to contest the decision being recommended by Vaughan Staff at the Committee of Whole, Tuesday, May 7th, 2024. Letters and requests for Delegations must be submitted by Monday, May 6th, at 12 noon.
